Govt Working on “GST Informant Reward Scheme” to Curb Tax Evasion
The revenue department is looking to create a “GST informant reward scheme” under which the individuals providing tip-offs about GST evasion can be rewarded. It will be similar to the schemes that were put in place by the Customs and Income Tax for service tax and excise several years ago.

The guidelines for Customs Act, Central Excise Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, etc. dictate that rewards should be granted to informers who report specific clues regarding violation of tax laws.
