Indian Govt. Saving ₹1.41 Trillion with Direct Benefit Transfer

India’s exchequer has been able to save as much as ₹1.41 trillion so far by releasing subsidies and funds for social welfare schemes for the eligible beneficiaries under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme.  The government has transferred around ₹7.33 trillion directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in the past 5 years.

There are 439 social welfare schemes that are facilitated under the DBT scheme. These include LPG subsidy scheme, PAHAL, Ayushman Bharat, scholarship schemes, etc.
