IT dept to launch new ITR filing portal

The Income Tax Department is set to launch another ‘taxpayer friendly’ income tax filing portal on June 7 as the Central Board of Direct Taxes said recently that the current portal will be eliminated after a ‘blackout period’ of six days starting one month from now.
An IT Department dispatch on May 19 said the ‘change’ from the old site – www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in – to the new – www.incometax.gov.in – will be finished and made operational from June 7. It further expressed, “In planning of this launch and for migration activities, the current portal of the office www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in would not be accessible for a short period (citizens just as outside partners) of six days from June 1 to 6.”
The Central Board of Direct Taxes urged the taxpayers to show patience during this change, adding any compliance dates will not be fixed during this time to ensure ‘no inconvenience to taxpayers’.
