Leh Could Get Smart City Tag with Ladakh Becoming UT

According to a report by The Times of India, as Ladakh gets Union Territory status after the abolishing of Article 370, the headquarters of the region i.e. Ladakh may get the Smart City tag. It said that the city might soon be visited by a team from the housing and urban affairs ministry which will oversee the Smart City Mission to study the location and prepare a report.

Sources said that while the government has decided to cover 100 cities under the Smart City mission as of now, it could expand the list, especially if there is involvement of a new Union Territory.
