Life Insurers Hire 36,000 Agents Ahead of Sales Rush
Private life insurance firms hired 36,311 agents during the first half of FY19 ahead of the peak sales season that starts in November as the customers start the search for tax-saving schemes. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) added 6,779 agents while the private insurers added 29,532 agents. Last year, the life insurers added 10,623 agents combined. 

At the end of the second quarter, the life insurance industry had 2.12 million agents out of which 1.15 million agents were from LIC alone.
