Number of Middle-Class Individuals Availing Interest Subsidy for New Homes Doubled

Middle-class families living in the urban areas in India are rushing to avail the Central Government’s interest subsidy scheme that allows them to build affordable homes. The number of individuals availing the scheme has doubled in the past 8 months alone.
According to Ministry data, 56% of the beneficiaries of the interest subsidy scheme use the assistance to build independent houses, 33% use it for purchasing apartments, and 7% use it for purchasing apartments that they are already living in.
