Renewable Capacity Addition to be Flexible in India, Says Power Minister
June 14, 2019
Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy R K Singh said that India is looking to become less dependant on source-based energy capacity which is quite stringent. He also said that there are no fixed targets for energy capacity in different verticals, in a way that there may not be necessarily 100 GW solar, 60 GW wind, etc.
It’s worth noting that when the NDA government came to power in 2014, it announced a target of adding 175 GW energy capacity by 2022 which comprises 100 GW solar power, 60 GW from wind and the remaining from other clean sources.
