SBI to Raise up to $2 bn Via Overseas Bonds

India’s largest public sector lender State Bank of India said that it plans to raise as much as 2 billion US Dollars (above Rs. 12,600 crores) via the issuance of bonds in the US currency or another currency.

In a recent regulatory filing, the lender said that the board has granted an approval for “long term fund-raising in single/multiple tranches up to $2 billion”. It also said that the funds will be raised during FY18 and FY19 through a placement of senior secured notes in USD.
