Self-Driving Cars with Human-like Reasoning Developed by US Researchers

In a bid to equip autonomous cars with human-like reasoning and discretion, MIT researchers have built a system that can process visual data and basic maps to navigate in complex environments. It can identify mismatches between the data that’s available with it and the features of the roads so that it can adjust the car’s course.

One researcher Alexander Amini said that with the new system, the cars don’t need to be trained for every road in advance. New maps can be downloaded on the fly and the cars can navigate through the roads even when they haven’t seen the roads before.
