Shaktikanta Das, the Man Behind Demonetization Movement Chosen as the New RBI Governor

The Government has appointed former Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das as the new RBI Governor since the existing Governor Urjit Patel stepped down from office, to everyone’s surprise, this Monday.
Das was Economic Affairs Secretary from 2015 and 2017 and worked closely with the Reserve Bank of India especially during the demonetization initiative in which he played a major role. He has been now appointed as the Governor of the central bank for a term of 3 years.
