Sony May Put a Stop to Smartphone Business in India

Sony Corp CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said that the smartphone business of Sony is important for its brand portfolio even as many investors have stated that the company should shut down the business which has shown its sales in the red.
Sony’s smartphone segment of the portfolio reported an operating loss of 97.1 billion yen at the end of March for the year. The company wants to make the segment cashflow-positive by next year for which it’s now withdrawing the business from select markets which include Australia, Mexico, Africa, and India.
