Starting October, Banks Without Aadhaar Enrolment Centres to be Fined

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has given the banks one more month to open Aadhaar enrollment centers in 10% of their branches. It has also stated that failing to meet the requirement will attract a penalty of Rs. 20,000 for every branch that’s not covered after September 30.

In July this year, UIDAI had asked the banks to open one Aadhaar enrollment center for every 10 branches by the end of August. However, banks have requested for additional time to set up the facility at the establishments.
