Tax Collection in Goa Drops by 22% After GST

According to a senior government officer, tax collection in Goa has reduced by 22% under the GST regime in comparison to the revenue collection during the same period last year (pre-GST taxation system). However, State Commercial Taxes Department (SCTD), the office responsible for keeping a record of tax collection, said this trend is not expected to continue in the future.

Goa State Government said that GST will stabilize from January 2018 onwards. An official from the SCTD said that about 30% of the 21,000 taxpayers registered with the department have not paid their taxes since GST came into effect.
