UP Govt to Set up “UP Khadi” Outlets Geared Towards Youth
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that it will launch exclusive “UP Khadi” outlets where ethnic wearers, especially the youngsters, can buy a variety of Khadi products. This is linked to the government’s signing of ₹300 billion worth of MoUs during the UP Investors Summit 2018. The government has also struck a deal with e-commerce giant Flipkart to sell UP Khadi around the world.

State MSME and Khadi Minister Satyadev Pachauri said that the “UP Khadi Plazas” will be set up under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The UP government will sign several MoUs to push Khadi in the state and beyond. These include an MoU with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and Harit Khadi, and one with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to use solar charkhas, etc.
