UPI Keeps up Pace, Records 145 Million Transactions in December

Government-backed Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is growing at a steady pace and clocked 145 million transactions in December. Comparing to the 105 million transactions in November, it’s a growth rate of 38%.

UPI also attained an impressive growth in terms of the total amount transferred through its channel which increased by 36% at Rs. 1,314 crores in December compared to Rs. 964 crores in November.

However, another major product of the government for the digital economy, i.e. the Bharat Interface for money (BHIM) is failing to keep up as its transactions reduced to 6% in December from 8% in November.
