West Bengal Looks to Offering Social Security Benefits to Unorganized Workers
The West Bengal government is planning to bring unorganized workers under its various Social Security Schemes. In April 2017, it had amalgamated five schemes into one called the Samajik Suraksha Yojana (SSY). 

An official statement from the Mamata Banerjee-led government states that under the SSY scheme, unorganized workers can get financial assistance of ₹20,000 per year for a variety of health problems. According to the Labour Minister, as many as one crore individuals have been brought under the scheme so far.
