WhatsApp Pay global expansion in the next few months: Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook said, despite the delay in rolling out the WhatsApp pay app in India due to data compliance issues, the UPI based payment feature will be launched in many countries in the next six months.

Due to the data compliance issues, the launch of this feature was suspended for some time. Facebook got permission in India to test this feature with one million people and when the majority of people kept using this feature on a weekly basis. Peer-to-peer UPI based service will reach around 400 million users, especially the small & medium level businesses to improve digital inclusion in the country.

According to the sources, there is a growth of 9 percent in daily active users as compared to last year which is 1.7 billion, led by the growth in countries like India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. There is a growth seen in daily and monthly active users as compared to the last year.
