World Bank to Sanction 287 mn USD for Tamil Nadu Health System Reform Programme

The World Bank has signed a loan agreement with the union government and Tamil Nadu government under which the former will release 287 million USD worth of funds for the state’s Health System Reform Programme.

The funds will be used to fill equity gaps in health care and reproductive services, minimizing the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and improving the quality of healthcare. Tamil Nadu is ranked on the third position in the NITI Aayog Health Index which is based on all Indian states.
