5,000 Bio-Gas Plants Expected to be Built in 5 Years with ₹1.75 Cr Investment
Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that around 5,000 biogas plants that will convert cattle dung, agricultural residue, and municipal solid waste are expected to be set up across the country in the next 5 years at an investment to the tune of ₹1.75 lakh crores.

Pradhan added that the nation is looking to limit dependence on oil imports. Thus, the government-owned fuel marketing companies will purchase biogas from these plants at ₹46 per kg. At present, India imports 81% of its required oil from other countries.
