Bank of Baroda Launches National Common Mobility Card for Seamless Travel Transactions

In a significant move towards a cashless and interconnected payment system, the Bank of Baroda (BoB) unveiled the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) RuPay Reloadable Prepaid Card on Tuesday. Aligned with the “One Nation, One Card” initiative, the NCMC prepaid card aims to facilitate seamless payments across various travel and transportation modes.

The RuPay Platinum EMV chip-enabled contactless prepaid card, provided by the Public Sector Bank, ensures inter-operable and multi-purpose usage throughout the country. Users can employ the NCM Card for public transport, including metro, with upcoming applications for buses, trains, cabs, ferries, tolls, and parking. Additionally, the card supports day-to-day ATM cash withdrawals, as well as payments through POS and E-commerce gateways.

Available to both customers and non-customers at the bank’s branches, the card promises immediate activation for real-time use. According to Lal Singh, the Executive Director of Bank of Baroda, the NCMC RuPay Prepaid card adds a new dimension to cashless transactions, offering convenience, flexibility, and security to users.

The card supports online and offline transactions at NCMC-specific terminals, with a maximum online wallet balance of Rs 1,00,000 and a maximum offline wallet balance of Rs 2,000 at any given time. Accepted at all RuPay e-commerce and POS terminals, as well as ATM machines, users will receive transaction notifications through SMS on their registered mobile numbers.

BoB NCMC cardholders can conveniently load/reload money through a dedicated portal provided by the bank, and the offline wallet can be reloaded at designated NCMC terminal operators at transit locations. This initiative marks a transformative step in enhancing the public transport commuting experience, simplifying transactions for users across the nation.
