Black Money Crackdown: 26 Chartered Accountants Put Under Scanner
July 31, 2017
As many as 26 chartered accountants have been identified and put under the scanner by ICAI for their involvement with shell companies regarding black money menace.
A senior official said that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which is the regulator for professional accountants has the authority to take corrective action against the wrong-doers. On that note, Nilesh Shivji Vikamsey, ICAI President said that the identified 26 CAs have been investigated by the Institute.
The government seems to show no slack towards clamping down the shell companies. Earlier this month, 1,62,618 companies were removed from the register of companies as a part of the black money investigation.
