Centre to Partner with WhatsApp, Google to Push Digital Payments

In one of the comprehensive strategies for promoting digital payments in India, the union government will shake hands with insurance companies, banks, and tech giants like WhatsApp and Google under a pan-India campaign that will cover various forms of media.

The ministry of electronics and IT (MeitY) is already working on making the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app a single point for all kinds of mobile payments. It will be accomplished by making Bharat QR codes widely accepted by the merchants across the nation and also preloading various mobile handsets with the app.
