Direct Tax Collections for FY19 Fall Short by ₹83,000 cr

According to a report, direct taxes amounting to only ₹11.17 lakh crores were collected during the financial year 2018-19 by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) against the target of ₹12 lakh crores. However, the collection is still 18.3% higher than the previous financial year.
The government data shows that that corporate tax worth ₹6.62 lakh crores and income tax worth ₹4.42 lakh crores was collected during FY19, and the STT collection clocked at ₹0.11 lakh crores.
