Foreign Investors Less Attracted to India Now, Says Cartica Capital’s Teresa Barger

CEO and co-founder of Cartica Capital Teresa Barger said that equities in India have declined a lot today mainly on the back of a few policy missteps and cyclical factors. She said that things like bankruptcy reforms, marketing reforms, etc. have led to a reduction in inflation, adding that fiscal and monetary policies are too tight.

Barger said that the taxes proposed by the Indian government don’t make a lot to sense to her company, especially the dividend distribution tax. She also said that the country is becoming less attractive to foreign investors.
