Google files trademark for new operating system named ‘Pigweed’

Google has for quite some time been supposed to be dealing with a successor to Android OS. Up until this point, the OS has been named as Fuchsia. It appears Google is working on a new OS, however, it’s classified “Pigweed.”

A Redditor Igats has recognized another US trademark application for the OS with the name “Pigweed”. The trademark portrays the new contribution as “Computer operating software”. As 9to5Google brings up, the first mention of “Pigweed” was found in code for Fuchsia OS.

Aside from the trademark name and brief portrayal of what it could be, insights regarding Google’s Pigweed are rare right now. All things considered, Google hasn’t been exceptionally disciplined with regards to obtaining trademarks. Google has been settled on the Fuchsia trademark for over two years and hasn’t yet commercially launched.

Fun fact, in the event that you’re considering what does Pigweed means, this is what Wikipedia says, “Pigweed can mean any of various weedy plants which might be utilized as pig fodder.”
