Jobs created through KVIC programmes jump nearly 4%

The estimated employment generated through Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in FY21 remained at 1.58 crore up 3.8 percent from 1.52 crore in FY20 and 7.9 percent from 1.46 crore in FY19, as indicated by the information shared by MSME Minister Narayan Rane in Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Out of 1.58 crore jobs in FY21, almost 97% jobs 1.53 crore were created/sustained by village industries while staying 4.97 lakh jobs were created/sustained by the Khadi program.

The minister noted that execution of plans, for example, Credit-connected sponsorship program PMEGP and others under Gramodyog Vikas Yojana including Honey Mission, Kumbhar Sashaktikaran Program, Leather make Artisans Empowerment Programm, Khadi Vikas Yojana, and Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries helped boost employment under KVIC.

For example, under PMEGP around 7 lakh micro enterprises were helped with giving work to an expected 57 lakh people since its beginning in FY09 till June 30, 2021.
