LegalPay launches financing product for retail investors

Delhi-based litigation funding platform LegalPay has launched an alternative investment product for retail investors. Through the venture, investors can fund third party litigations for a minimum amount of ₹25,000.

The organization has created a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to make a pool of 4-8 commercial cases to guarantee expansion of investors funding to generate lucrative IRRs and limited risk. The vehicle is designed to finance arbitrations (both domestic and global), medium and late-stage litigations, and specialized forums and claim buyouts opportunities, The Hindu reported.

Founded by season investor Kundan Shahi in 2020, LegalPay helps entities/organizations ease the financial burden of litigation cases, for example, investor and IPR related questions with the assistance of technology. Litigation finance is a game plan under which the organizations get their due and even the funders make money.

The organization is backed by venture capital firms like 9Unicorns and LetsVenture and by marquee angels messengers including Ashwini Kakkar, ex-seat via.com, and Ambarish Gupta, ex-founder of Knowlarity, among others.
