Ombudsman Scheme for NBFCs Finally Launched

The ombudsman scheme for the Non Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) which was announced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on February 7, 2018, was launched by the central bank itself this Friday.

As per the scheme, all NBFCs registered with the RBI under the section 45-IA of the RBI Act, 1934 will be covered for the redressal of consumer complaints.

Four ombudsman offices have been set up for the NBFC scheme in Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai, each of which will address the complaints in their respective regions.
