RBI a Lot Clearer Now From the Time of 13,000-Work Monetary Policy Statements
June 07, 2019
There was a time when the monetary policy statements of the central bank were on average 13,000 words long. This was before the adoption of inflation targeting in 2016. However, now the Reserve Bank of India uses fewer words and its documentation has also become simpler and easier to follow.
According to a paper that was released by Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research in Mumbai, RBI’s statements are now on average 3,084 words long compared to 13,000 words years ago. However, they are still longer than Federal Reserve that issues statements with the average number of words just 500.
