WhatsApp reached 2 billion users around the world

The biggest chatting platform in the world has crossed the mark of 2 billion users worldwide. Facebook acquired app reached 1.5 billion users in the year 2017. While announcing its new user base, WhatsApp said it will focus on encryption and increasing security.

WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart said, “Company will not change its encryption policy even if the government of some countries asks for decryption of WhatsApp messages but the company will provide metadata to the lawmakers for inspection purpose”.

Facebook’s users are 2.5 billion worldwide which is closer to WhatsApp’s current users worldwide.

According to the sources, WhatsApp is planning to use the client base to serve promotions in its offer to monetize the service.
